About the National Debate Series:

Just over a year ago, Glenn Gaudet and Jeff Kimball launched a weekly political podcast called PoliTalk. The intent was to provide straight-forward, informative and sometimes fun political commentary that seems to have been missing from today's media offerings. Last spring, we attended an event in Washington DC and met the founder of Debatepedia.org, Brooks Lindsay. We met a kindrid spirit in our philosphy of the need for more civil debate in this country. We decided to work together to combine a live event with online resources to foster and support much-needed political discourse and debate.

As we began planning what is now the National Debate Series, we experienced the summer of the "Town Hall Meetings" which seemed more like a shoutfest rather than a forum in which different points of view can come together and learn something from one another.

We feel that our country is at a crossroads. There are a lot of important issues that need to be discussed and debated in order for us to find common ground and forge solutions that work for everyone. That's why we're trying to promote discussion that includes people of all political backgrounds in a way that engages and enlightens.

Coming in 2010
